It has been quite a remarkable rise to fame for Jannik Sinner. He has a devoted following thanks to his skill on the tennis court, and these people have supported him through a doping scandal. After securing a crucial victory at the Cincinnati Open, the Italian star is currently in the centre of a storm that has divided the tennis world.

Sinner’s adoring fans are uniting behind him and praising his exceptional talent and spotless record. However, doubters are posing concerns, and the discussion is becoming more intense. Notable individuals who are entering the battle are Andy Roddick and Nick Kyrgios.

On Tuesday, the Italian dynamo got into hot water. Though Sinner’s doping charges were dropped by the ITIA, the tennis community continues to criticize him. Kyrgios was equally frustrated about Sinner and called for harsh punishments.

Kyrgios wrote on X: “Ridiculous – whether it was accidental or planned. You get tested twice with a banned (steroid) substance. You should be gone for 2 years. Your performance was enhanced. Massage cream, yeah nice.”

During his Indian Wells campaign, Sinner tested positive for low levels of clostebol, an illegal anabolic steroid. Eight days later, in an out-of-competition sample, he tested positive once more. However, the ITIA ruling disclosed that the chemical got into his body due to contamination from a support team member who was treating a minor wound on their own skin with an over-the-counter spray containing clostebol.

The fact that the community notes fact-checked Kyrgios made former American player Roddick laugh a lot. Roddick replied: “I love community notes.”
