Just in time for the US Open, Elena Rybakina announced that she and coach Stefano Vukov had called it quits after five years of working relationship. Days remain before Flushing Meadows’ season officially begins, where Rybakina intends to start a title defense.
The successful collaboration between Rybakina and Vukov began in 2019 when they first began working together. Aryna Sabalenka defeated her in the Australian Open final last year after she had won her maiden Grand Slam title at Wimbledon two years prior.
Rybakina acknowledged her split with Vukov on Instagram on Friday and thanked him for his years of commitment.
She wrote: “Hello everyone! After five years, Stefano and I are no longer working together. I thank him for his work on the court and wish him all the best for the future. Thank you all for the support.”

Currently ranked no.4, Elena played her last match on the 15th of August when she capitulated to world no.24 Leylah Annie Fernandez 3-6 7-6(3) 6-4 in the 2nd round in Cincinnati (draw).
This year Rybakina has achieved a 40-9 record. Elena has won 3 titles in 2024 in Brisbane, Abu Dhabi and Stuttgart. The Kazakhstani got to the final in Doha and Miami.
Elena Rybakina will square off with the world no.180 Destanee Aiava in the 1st round. They have never competed against each other until now on the main tour.
The Kazakhstani clinched 3 titles in 2024 in Brisbane, Abu Dhabi and Stuttgart. Elena was the runner-up in Doha (Qatar TotalEnergies Open) and in Miami (Miami Open).
