In his tweet, Kyrgios described the situation as “ridiculous” and suggested that Sinner should face a two-year ban if the substance was used intentionally. He expressed skepticism about the efficacy of Sinner’s explanation, which involved a massage cream, and questioned the legitimacy of the claims.

“Ridiculous – whether it was accidental or planned. You get tested twice with a banned (steroid) substance… you should be gone for 2 years. Your performance was enhanced. Massage cream…. Yeah nice 🙄,” Kyrgios wrote.

The tweet was flagged for misinformation and accompanied by a community note. The note stated,

“The report says there wasn’t any performance enhancing: Professor David Cowan: ‘Even if the administration had been intentional, the minute amounts likely to have been administered would not have had […] any relevant doping, or performance enhancing, effect upon the player.'”

This response aims to clarify that the substance in question, if used, would not have significantly impacted Sinner’s performance according to expert analysis.
