Nick Kyrgios, the renowned Australian tennis player known for his on-court flair and candid demeanor, is set to take on a new role at the 2024 US Open. While Kyrgios has been sidelined from competitive tennis due to persistent injuries, he will now join ESPN as a commentator, offering expert analysis and insight on the performances of his fellow players. This marks his third on-air assignment with the network this year, following his commentary roles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Kyrgios, often referred to as the “Bad Boy of Tennis,” has faced numerous health challenges that have kept him from fully participating in the sport he excels in. Despite his immense talent, injuries have hindered his ability to compete consistently, with only a brief appearance at the 2023 Stuttgart Open and a doubles match with Thanasi Kokkinakis at the 2022 ATP Finals.

However, Kyrgios is now preparing for a comeback. He announced his participation in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) in New York, an innovative tennis event created by Patrick Mouratoglou. The UTS event is scheduled to take place from August 22-23 at the Forest Hills Stadium.

Expressing his excitement for his return, Kyrgios shared, “I know it’s been a long time. But my body’s finally ready to get back out there and have some fun.” His return to the court is eagerly anticipated by fans who have missed his dynamic presence.

While Kyrgios has stepped back from regular competition, he has remained vocal about the sport and has continued to share his opinions on matters related to the ATP tour. His transition to commentary allows him to stay connected to the game, offering viewers a unique perspective shaped by his experiences as both a player and a commentator.
