Six years after their memorable meeting in the 2018 US Open final, defending champion Novak Djokovic and 2009 titlist Juan Martin del Potro reunited on the Arthur Ashe Stadium court. This time, it was during a marquee practice session as part of Fan Week at the 2024 US Open.
The two fan favorites traded groundstrokes, sweating and smiling their way through a 90-minute session. Both players were mic’d up for a quick chat with ESPN. Djokovic playfully referred to his greatest success as beating del Potro in the 2018 US Open final, while del Potro playfully reminded him of their Olympic battles.
Del Potro, who had previously defeated Djokovic at the Olympics, was overcome with emotion when Djokovic won the gold medal. It was a wholesome moment that delighted fans and showcased the camaraderie between these tennis greats.

Now ranked no.2, Novak played his last match on the 4th of August when he beat world no.3 Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3) 7-6(2) in the final in Paris to win his 99th career title.
Currently, during this year Novak has managed to achieve an overall 29-7 win-loss record. Novak conquered 1 title in Paris. The Serbian was the runner-up in Wimbledon.
He is also scheduled to play in Shanghai (Shanghai Rolex Masters) on the 30th of September and Paris (Rolex Paris Masters) on the 28th of October.
