Tough luck for the organization in Madrid as they lose the top3 players in the world before the second round. After Serena Williams had withdrawn from the competition, the other top players became well aware that they had a huge chance to win a prestigious title in Madrid. Eventually, the top 2 seeds Agnieszka Radwanska and Angelique Kerber crashed in the first round.
Aga lost a horrendous match after she squandered a 2-0 lead in the decider to lose 6-4 6-7 (3) 6-3. Angelique didn’t seem to have the right drive in the opener to fall 6-4 6-2 to Strykova.
