Jannik Sinner recently acknowledged that he didn’t eat the carrot cake that was given to him for his birthday. In the Cincinnati Masters quarterfinals, the Italian defeated Andrey Rublev.

Sinner, who turned 23 on August 16, defeated Rublev 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in windy conditions. With the victory, he made Open Era history as the first Italian man to advance to the Cincinnati semifinals.

Sinner had a carrot cake from the Cincinnati Open for his birthday before the August 17 match. Following the match, the 23-year-old acknowledged sharing the cake with his team rather than eating it in an interview with Tennis Channel.

Additionally, he disclosed his preferred cake variety, stating: “Oh I didn’t actually. I was very happy to share this cake with a lot of people. I like carrot cake, but it’s not like crazy. It’s not my favourite cake. I like more of a cream and fruit or even chocolate and cream, you know, that’s my cake. But, it’s alright, it suits me very well, the carrot cake, so I can’t complain.”
