Stefanos Tsitsipas decided to split ways with his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, after losing to Kei Nishikori in the opening round of the Montreal Masters. He is currently seeking someone who can help him reach his full potential.

Cincinnati proved to be an unsatisfactory venue for his first tournament without a coach. He lost to Jack Draper in the second round after overcoming Jan-Lennard Struff in the first. In the last set, the Greek player served to win the match.

Dimitris Chatzinikolaou, the Greek Davis Cup coach, has accompanied him to Cincinnati. Tsitsipas acknowledged that Dimitris was helpful, but he is still searching for a full-time coach.

Though he hasn’t decided on a plan of action just yet, he gave some insight into it in an interview.

He explained in a recent interview about his coaching decision: “I’m going to try to do interviews with different coaches. I will arrange the interview with some of those who apply. I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to go about deciding which coach I’m going to choose. So it’s something that’s uncertain at the moment. But I’m glad that Dimitris came to help me. I’ve known him all my life since I was a little boy.”

Tsitsipas also said that his next coach must provide long-term stability following his defeat to Draper in the mixed zone.

He added: “The right people adapt, they work for you, and they make things work around you. Once you find these people, it’s a big relief for your tennis because you’re able to communicate with them in the best way. You are able to coordinate your tennis level, which is improving, and your mental state is also improving. I just want to go as high as I can and work with the right people who know how to guide me and how to add wisdom to my game.”
