Ashleigh explains why she had to turn down Andy

Ashleigh Barty saying no to Andy Murray

Andy Murray is back to competitions in doubles after his successful hip operation. The Brit sensation will pair with Pierre Hugues-Herbert in Wimbledon and he is willing to compete also in mixed doubles. However, the former world no.1 admitted that he was turned down several times and one of the players that said no to Andy was Ashleigh Barty.

The hardest decision ever. ASHLEIGH BARTY

it was the Australian to admit that she had to say “no” to Andy also because she already accepted to compete in women’s doubles with Vika Azarenka. Barty commented:

“When Andy texted me asking me to play, I was a little bit shocked. Obviously, I would have loved to have grabbed the opportunity to play with Andy, and I think it was the hardest decision I have ever had to make as to whether I’m playing an event or not.

I took some time to think about it, and playing three events is just a little bit too much. I was very flattered but said to him, ‘I think there are some pretty good options out there for you’. I’m sure he’ll find someone.”

So, who will be the next one?
