This week at the Cincinnati Open, Jannik Sinner will continue his hard-court campaign, and he desperately needs a deep run. For Sinner, the past year has felt a bit like a tale of two halves.

Sinner was unable to make his Olympic debut due to a case of tonsillitis. Despite Sinner’s recent fitness update, he still doesn’t look 100%. He was dogged against Andrey Rublev in Montreal and is now getting ready for Cincinnati, where he has never advanced past the third round.

Sinner, who was eliminated from the Montreal quarterfinals last week and missed the Olympics in Paris, claimed he was not playing at his best.

He talked about it recently and said: “I’m not yet at 100%, but my main goal is the US Open. I have one week (after Cincinnati) to prepare in the best possible way. The matches I can play here will help at the Open.”
