As part of its ambitious phased development, the Exchange office development in Stockport will add three more padel courts. Developer Muse has submitted a planning proposal with leisure operator Social Sports Society to open a three court, 1,500 square meter padel facility at the modern office development across from the Town Hall, between Stockport train station and the main A6 through the town.
The three-court facility is part of a larger £1 billion revitalization plan for the town, which also includes future developments of Stockport Exchange, the first two operational buildings of which house Music Magpie, BASF, ONP, and Stagecoach among other companies.
A third building is currently being constructed at the Spinningfields complex in Stockport. In its place, a dilapidated row of shops on the A6 will be demolished to make way for the construction of the project’s final, fourth phase. Close by is Stockport 8, a brand-new community being built by Stockport’s Mayoral Development Corporation, which is in charge of building thousands of new homes.
The new reception area shown in the leisure facility’s site plans, which are also in close proximity to Grand Central Swimming Pool, was designed by Manchester-based architectural firm IF_DO. The application is being submitted by JMS Planning on behalf of the business. Ella Woodward, development manager at Muse, said:
“Having the opportunity to bring an offering like this to Stockport is fantastic for the area. Muse is deeply embedded in the town and through our work on Stockport Exchange and Stockport 8, we’ve spoken to lots of local people and businesses. The feedback we receive often focuses around the importance of wellbeing and community, so we believe that a new padel venue will very well received.”
