Gauff In A Press Conference

Recently, Coco Gauff talked about her experience raising the American flag at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Being among the youngest tennis players to carry the American flag at the Games was an incredible moment for the young American.

In addition to competing in the singles and doubles events, Gauff was tasked with representing the team alongside another legend, LeBron James. Reflecting on the occasion, Gauff stated in a recent interview that she felt privileged to be chosen as the team’s leader.

Gauff told the press in Cincinnati: “Being in the Olympics in general and representing my country was a great experience, and being the flag bearer was really cool. I didn’t expect to be honoured at all. Being there with LeBron was really cool.”

She did not, however, have the ideal Olympic debut. Gauff was defeated by Donna Vekic in the third round of the singles competition. She also lost in the second round of the women’s doubles competition and advanced to the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles competition with Taylor Fritz.

Following a dismal Olympics, Gauff made her comeback to the circuit in the Canadian Open. Because of the different surfaces, she had no expectation of performing well going in, and as expected, she lost to Diana Shnaider in the second round.
