Ons Jabeur has announced her withdrawal from the Cincinnati Open due to a persistent shoulder injury, raising concerns about her participation in the US Open. The former world No. 2, who had previously exited the Washington tournament and lost in the first round at Toronto to Naomi Osaka, expressed her regret in an Instagram story.
Jabeur stated, “Dear All, I regret to inform you that, due to an aggravated shoulder injury, I will be unable to participate at the Cincinnati Open this year. Despite my best efforts to recover in time, playing in Toronto did not help, and my current condition does not allow me to compete at the level required. I am doing all my best to recover for the upcoming US Open in New York. Hugs, Ons.”
Jabeur plans to use the coming weeks to focus on recovery in hopes of being fit for the final Grand Slam of the year.
