The Serbians gave Novak Djokovic a standing ovation upon his return home after his gold medal victory in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. To fulfil his dream, the Serb prevailed over Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets over an exciting two hours and fifty-one minutes of play.
The Serbian’s hopes of competing in the Olympics were in danger after he suffered a medial meniscus injury during the French Open in his right knee. He recovered from surgery, though, and made it to the Wimbledon final, where he was defeated by Alcaraz in straight sets.
The 24-time Major champion defeated Alcaraz 7-6(3), 7-6(2) to complete the lifetime Golden Slam and become the oldest person to win the gold medal in singles.
Recently, Djokovic received a hero’s welcome from his supporters in Serbia. Thousands of supporters cheered “Nole” as he left Belgrade’s Old Palace following a momentous declaration by the anchor. The crowd continued to applaud him as he rose and kissed his gold medal.
Additionally, the Serb shared some of the best moments on Instagram, including a video of him walking in front of the audience and receiving more applause. In addition, Djokovic is shown having fun with other Olympian medalists, including Nikola Jokic, and joining his countrymen in singing the Serbian National Anthem.
He wrote on Instagram: “A golden homecoming. KOD KUĆE JE NAJLEPŠE.”

WWWWWWLWWW Ranked no.2, Djokovic played his last match on the 4th of August when he overcame world no.3 Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3) 7-6(2) in the final in Paris to win his 99th career title.
Currently, during this season the Serbian has achieved a compiled 29-7 match record. Djokovic conquered 1 title in Paris. Djokovic was the finalist in Wimbledon.
He is also scheduled to play in Shanghai (Shanghai Rolex Masters) on the 30th of September and Paris (Rolex Paris Masters) on the 28th of October.
