Angelique Kerber defends her title in Stuttgart after beating her compatriot Laura Siegemund 6-4 6-0. The final was rather weird with Siegemund grabbing a fast 3-0 lead, but the match of Laura ended in the sixth game after she squandered a 4-2 lead to lose 10 consecutive games.
Kerber ended Siegemund‘s fairy tale; ranked no.71 (career high), the German came straight from the qualification to win every single match in straight sets and she defeated 3 top10 players on the way (Halep, Vinci and Radwanska).
Kerber wins her 9th career title, the second of the season (after the Australian Open); she gets a healthy Eur 104,477 check, 470 WTA points and a great Porsche (from the sponsor). What a fantastic year for the German!
Look at Kerber enjoying the champion’s drive and now they are playing Atemlos for her too #PTGP pic.twitter.com/L166EJy2EE
