The 37th edition of the Babolat Trophy Spanish Junior Padel Championship closed for registration yesterday, August 8. It was the most registrations ever for an official padel tournament. The record number of pairs that signed up for the event at the Somontes Sports Club, 863, was broken by the 855 pairs that signed up for the 2018 Spanish Junior Championship.
He said, “This new, historic record is the result of the work that both the FEP and the Autonomous Federations do with minors, predicting a great future for our sport.” Ramon Morcillo is the president of the Spanish Padel Federation.
The best national padel tournament will begin in Madrid on August 26 and run until September 1. More than 1,700 players have registered, and new champions will be named in five age groups: benjamin, alevin, infantil, cadet, and junior.
The Somontes Sports Club is the official site of the competition, and the Puerta de Hierro Sports Club is an extra site. Both are getting ready to host the competition, which will take place on a total of 40 courts, and to meet the needs of the event.
