Federer survives the tough challenge from Agut to reach the semifinals in Halle

Roger Federer, the top seed in the tournament came over a tough challenge posed by an inspired Roberto Bautista Agut.

The world no.3 won the match 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in 1 hour and 53 minutes. This is or the 15^th time that the Swiss star has entered the semifinals of the Halle Open. The world no.3 has already won it 9 times and seems well on course to win it for the 10^th time.

The Match

In the early stages of the match, the 9 time Halle champion was on the top. In the 1^st set, he broke the Spaniard twice, first in the opening game and then in the 9^th game of the match to claim the 1^st set 6-3.

The 3^rd game of the 2^nd set was a crucial one for the world no.20 who won it after a stiff resistance from Federer who saved two break points. He picked up the momentum from here and did not allow the Swiss to dominate him in the rest of the set. The consistent pressure put by Roberto resulted in more unforced errors from the Swiss. The slight edge which he got in the initial stages helped Agut winning the set 6-4.

In the decider, Federer claimed one break and maintained the advantage to win the set 6-4.

Federer will play Herbert in the semifinals of the tournament.
