Jannik Sinner may skip the Cincinnati Masters due to ongoing issues, despite insisting that his problem is more mental than physical. After losing to Andrey Rublev in the Montreal Masters quarter-finals, Sinner discussed his recurring hip issue and its impact. He acknowledged that while the physical strain is manageable, the mental aspect remains challenging.
In his post-match press conference, Sinner stated, “Yes, everything is fine. You know, I think that kind of thing is more mental than physical, that’s for sure.” He added, “Even if I know that my body is not as strained as I would like to because of last week, but it was also mentally for sure.”
Sinner expressed uncertainty about his readiness for Cincinnati, noting, “Making miracles in the next five days, it’s not possible, but being ready for Cincinnati and 100% I don’t think is possible.” His focus remains on being fit for the US Open, the key event in the US swing. If he competes in Cincinnati, Sinner will face Tallon Griekspoor or a qualifier in his first match.
