Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, recently shared personal insights into her wellness and self-care practices during an interview with Marie Claire. As the British tennis star continues her comeback from persistent injury challenges, she reflected on the importance of comfort foods in her life, despite typically adhering to a healthy lifestyle.
Raducanu revealed her deep affection for her mother’s homemade spring rolls, describing the joy and comfort these dishes bring to her. She recounted a particularly special memory following her monumental victory at the US Open. Rather than celebrating in a lavish restaurant, Raducanu chose to return home, where her mother prepared a meal of dumplings and spring rolls.
“Comfort foods aren’t really part of my healthy lifestyle, but I guess they are healthy for the soul and the mind. I love my mum’s homemade spring rolls,” Raducanu shared. “And when I won the US Open, we didn’t go to a fancy restaurant or anything afterwards. Instead, I went home and my mum made dumplings and spring rolls. That for me is the most rewarding of moments, and where I truly feel the happiest,” she added.
This glimpse into Raducanu’s personal life highlights her grounded nature and the value she places on family and simple pleasures, even in the wake of her historic triumph.
