Rafael Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, has announced his withdrawal from the US Open. The 38-year-old cited concerns about his ability to perform at his highest level, stating, “I don’t think I would be able to give my 100 percent this time.”

Nadal, a four-time US Open winner, expressed his disappointment in missing the tournament, noting his fond memories of the event. “Hi all, writing today to let you guys know that I have decided not to compete at this year’s US Open, a place where I have amazing memories,” he shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I will miss those electric and special night sessions in NYC at Ashe.”

He added, “Thanks to all my US fans in particular, will miss you all and will see you another time. Best of luck to all for the always amazing US Open!”

Nadal’s next planned appearance will be at the Laver Cup in Berlin. This marks his sixth absence from the last seven Grand Slam tournaments, with his only appearance being a first-round exit at this year’s French Open. His most recent Grand Slam victory came at the 2022 French Open, and he last won the US Open in 2019.
