Tough Luck for Juan Martin Del Potro.
The Argentine has been battling for his entire career with injuries, and once again he has been sidelined by an unfortunate event.
The world no.12 broke his right patella last year in October to be out from the competitions for a few months. Juan Martin was back in February in Delray Beach to later compete in Madrid, Rome, and Paris. The Tower of Tandil started his grass campaign at the prestigious Queen’s Club, but unfortunately he got injured again during his victorious match against Denis Shapovalov in the second set while chasing a ball at the net.
On Wednesday, the Argentine announced his retirement from the tournament and it is still unclear if he will be fit to play Wimbledon.
The official statement
This was the official statement:
“Juan Martin del Potro finished his first round match at Queen’s with pain and swelling in his right knee after slipping close to the net in the eighth game of the second set. In the next few hours, medical studies will be carried out to determine the degree of the injury. We will report the results in a timely manner.”
The slip that led to Del Potro's withdrawal from Queen's. Another sad chapter in a book that has had too many of them https://t.co/rEwtwGMljc
