Djokovic explains why he still wants to compete also if his career is complete

Even though he may have reached his peak in tennis with his gold medal at the Olympics in Paris, Novak Djokovic has declared that he plans to compete again in Los Angeles in four years.

Djokovic Talks In Interview

Novak Djokovic has stated that he intends to return to competition in Los Angeles in four years, although his gold medal at the Olympics in Paris may have been the pinnacle of his tennis accomplishments.

In an excellent final at Roland-Garros, Djokovic defeated Carlos Alcaraz of Spain to give Serbia the gold that the country had long craved. Although Djokovic hasn’t played at his best this season, he rose to the occasion to defeat Alcaraz and earn the gold.

Even though he will be 41 years old in 2028, Djokovic isn’t denying the possibility of returning to competition. He talked about it and said: “I still want to play in Los Angeles. I enjoy playing for my country and the Olympic Games, particularly the Davis Cup, and being part of the team. Olympic Games come every four years so the opportunity to win gold for your country is very rare and I knew the fact that I’m 37. I don’t know how many more chances I’ll have; I know everything.”

When asked if he has finished playing tennis, even though that record is still unbroken for the time being, Djokovic responded: “Yes. It’s complete because I completed all the achievements with this gold medal. No, because I love this sport. I don’t play it only to win the tournament. I play it because I really love competition and perfecting my game. I don’t know about the future; I really want to be in the present moment to celebrate. It was a long journey—many, many years of dreaming of holding the gold medal. So now it’s about happiness, joy and celebration.”
