Padel is a new sport that Cristiano Ronaldo has been observed dabbling in outside of football.
The legendary Portuguese player, who has known Miguel Paixão since his time at Sporting, has been having fun with some games.
Ronaldo is not just a padel enthusiast; he also intends to invest in and start a business in the sport. As per DirectTVSport, the 39-year-old wants to become a prominent figure in the sport and its business domain, while also contributing to the growth of padel in Portugal.
Padel is a Mexican racket sport, sometimes referred to as padel tennis. It is similar to tennis in that it uses two paddles and a tennis ball, but it is not the same in terms of technique, court size, or net distance.
Approved by the City Council of Oeiras, the Padel City initiative was created by the Portuguese Padel Federation in collaboration with Smooth Odissey, a business owned by businessmen Filipe de Botton and Ronaldo.
The project is currently in the stage of specialized licensing and will shortly start building padel courts in Vale do Jamor, Portugal. Of the 17 padel courts at the facility, 15 will be covered so that players can play all year long.
Plans also call for a 15,000-square-meter building that will house a cafeteria, gym, and physiotherapy area in addition to a center court that can accommodate more than 2,000 spectators.
The Portuguese Padel Federation will also relocate its headquarters to this location. Ronaldo is working on this initiative in addition to his previous business endeavors, which include real estate investments, fitness centers in Saudi Arabia, apparel and underwear lines, and Pestana Hotels.
