Novak Djokovic broke through his 16-year drought to win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024 in what he described as perhaps the greatest sporting achievement. The Serbian also plans to compete in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, where he will turn 41.
In the course of singles tennis history, the 37-year-old has already become the oldest person to win an Olympic gold medal. In a thrilling final at the Court Phillippe Chartier in Paris, Djokovic defeated Carlos Alcaraz of Spain 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/2).
Before winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, Djokovic lost three semi-final matches and took home a bronze medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
He expressed his desire to play in the 2027 Olympics and said: “This is probably the biggest sporting success I have ever had and the most special feeling. I want to play in Los Angeles. I enjoy playing for my country in the Olympic Games and in the Davis Cup.”
Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, and Djokovic became members of an exclusive club after the momentous victory. Only these athletes have completed the lifetime Golden Slam by winning gold in the Olympic singles competition and all four Grand Slam events.
