Stefanos Tsitsipas responded with excitement as his girlfriend, Paula Badosa, won the 2024 Citi Open. The Spaniard has not won a championship since she defeated Barbora Krejcikova in the Sydney International final in 2022.
Badosa was given a wildcard into the WTA 500 hard court tournament in Washington’s main draw. She defeated Emma Raducanu, another wildcard, in the quarterfinals with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. In the semifinals, she defeated Caroline Dolehide 6-3, 6-3 to guarantee her place in the final match.
At the 2024 Citi Open, Badosa most recently defeated Marie Bouzkova in the championship match after a two-hour and twenty-four-minute battle that ended in a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory. This was her fourth career triumph.
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) posted a video of the Spaniard defeating Bouzkova and diving onto the court in celebration on their official social media account.
Tsitsipas reacted after his girlfriend won and wrote on X: “Shut the front door.”
