Paula Badosa, the Spanish tennis sensation, recently clinched her fourth WTA title and her first championship in over two years at the Washington Open. Battling through injury setbacks, including a persistent back issue, Badosa emerged victorious with a hard-fought 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Czech player Marie Bouzkova in the women’s singles final of the Mubadala Citi DC Open.
Reflecting on her triumph, Badosa expressed immense joy, stating, “One year ago, I was on the couch, so it’s a big difference now. I’m an athlete again… winning a title after two years.” Her remarkable run in Washington D.C. included impressive victories over former Grand Slam champions Emma Raducanu and Sofia Kenin, solidifying her form ahead of the upcoming U.S. Open.

Ranked world no.40, Badosa played her last match on the 4th of August when she overcame world no.36 Marie Bouzkova 6-1 4-6 6-4 in the final in Washington to win her 4th career title.
