Plans to construct new padel courts at a Leeds golf club have been submitted, with the goal of “helping the future of the club and the local economy.” Pure Padel Clubs Ltd. has submitted a comprehensive planning application to Leeds City Council for the development of a bowling green on the abandoned Moor Allerton Golf Club property, with the help of NJL Consulting.
Planning clearance is needed for the installation of four padel courts, a bike parking area, and an outdoor social area with seating. The suggested reception kiosk would have a simple vending machine servery and a retail section with parapadel-related equipment. A changing facility and restrooms would also be provided.
As stated in a statement:
“The provision of padel will add to the facilities available to the local community and provide access to a new sport that is increasingly popular in the UK. This will offer all year access to a fun and healthy activity and provide a positive impact to be enjoyed by the local community.
“The positive benefits of additional sports provision in the community and the creation of a venue for sports competition will support the future of the club and the local economy.
“Adding covered padel courts offers an improved facility with a broader range of activities to encourage the community in taking more exercise without encroaching on any land beyond the boundary of the existing club. It will enhance the existing sports facilities at the club which will help to support their continued growth and sustainability.”
