There was not much hype this year in Bogota as the tournament was obfuscated by the Master ATP1000 in Monte Carlo and the Fed Cup semifinals. Finally, the 2016 winner was world no.96 Irina Falconi that defeated the world no. 170 Silvia Soler-Espinosa.
This was great news for Irina that at 25 years of age has managed to win her first ATP title, but the tournament needs to draw more stars in the future. Before this tournament Irina had a 4-9 win-loss record, she crashed out in the first round of 5 tournaments and she has never reached the 3rd round. The runner-up Silvia Soler-Espinosa has won just 1 match (of 7) this year before this event.
