Imane Khelif broke Italian boxer Angela Carini’s dream in Thursday’s Paris Olympics, and Russian tennis star Andrey Rublev responded. Khelif, who was permitted to compete despite failing a gender test, won her first fight in a mere forty-six seconds, which made the match highly controversial.

Carini and Khelif traded punches for a while, and then Carini took a few more to the face. Carini motioned to the referee that she wanted to end the match, even though there had only been two hits. In a mere forty-six seconds, Carini was grasping her nose in the centre of the ring.

Although many people were dissatisfied with this decision worldwide, the Algerian was deemed the winner. They held the International Olympic Committee (IOC) accountable for permitting women who failed gender tests to participate with other women. Rublev, a famous tennis player from Russia, joined them.

The Russian ace, who was equally upset at the match, attacked the organization for permitting such a match while stressing the value of protecting women. He also felt sorry for the Italian athlete, whose ambition vanished in the space of a few minutes.

Rublev wrote on social media: “And now on the biggest and most important sporting event – the Olympic Games – we see a man who identifies himself as a woman is hitting a woman (saying it’s equal rights boxing) and no one is stopping this.”
