Andy Murray recently shared his thoughts on Novak Djokovic’s popularity and the challenges the Serbian legend has faced in garnering the same crowd support as his rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Speaking to CNN, Murray acknowledged Djokovic’s immense global support and respect within the world of sports.

Murray highlighted the difficulties Djokovic has faced in achieving the same level of crowd adoration as Nadal and Federer. He suggested that this might have fueled Djokovic’s motivation, helping him to achieve even greater success.

“Novak has huge support around the world,” Murray stated. “But at times it has been difficult for him to not maybe feel the same support from the crowd that Rafa and Roger got. I think he’s extremely well-respected, not just in tennis but in world sport because of all of his achievements.”

Murray, a two-time Olympic singles champion, is competing in doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics, partnering with Dan Evans. Djokovic, aiming for his first Olympic gold, faces Stefanos Tsitsipas in the singles quarter-finals. Murray reflected on Djokovic’s resilience and ability to thrive under challenging conditions, noting that it has perhaps driven him to achieve even more in his illustrious career.
