In singles, Katerina Siniakova’s Olympic dreams came to an abrupt end at the hands of Clara Burel. However, the former World No. 1 doubles player is determined to prove herself in the doubles category. This challenge is not only professional but personal. During the Prague Open tournament, the 28-year-old player announced her breakup with Tomas Machac, a fellow Czech player, without revealing the reason.
As the news broke out, questions regarding her Olympic participation with Machac in mixed doubles were inevitable. Siniakova, however, confirmed that she would continue her professional journey with Machac at the Olympics. “Yes, it’s true, but this is my private matter. Of course, we will play, we are professionals,” she said before the start of the Games. True to her words, Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac are now preparing to bring their on-court chemistry against Alexander Zverev and Laura Siegemund in the opening round in Paris.
Machac and Siniakova were a well-renowned couple in the tennis circle over the past few years. They often shared adorable glimpses together on social media. Their relationship began during the Covid-19 pandemic when they were in Australia. However, their latest pictures together came at the Indian Wells this year, and subsequently, the two haven’t shared any pictures of them together on social media, which signaled tensions in their relationship and fans were quick to catch it.
Siniakova confirmed the rumors surrounding her breakup with Machac, reiterating her commitment to their professional partnership. “Yes, it’s true, but this is my private matter. Of course, we will play, we are professionals,” she concluded when asked about their stint at the Paris Olympics. Playing together will help Machac as Siniakova has had a positive influence on his game.

Currently the world no.39, Tomas achieved a composed 24-13 match record in 2024. Machac is currently competing in Paris where he overcame the world no.41 Zhizhen Zhang 6-2 4-6 6-2.
Tomas Machac will take on the world no.84 Botic Van De Zandschulp in the final on Sunday at 2:00 pm on CENTER COURT. Their record is 3-2 for Van De Zandschulp.
The Czech was the finalist in Geneva (Gonet Geneva Open).
Machac has scheduled to compete next in Montreal (National Bank Open). He will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 5th of August.
Katerina Siniakova in 2024
Ranked world no.38, the Czech played her last match on the 28th of July when she capitulated to world no.55 Clara Burel 7-6(3) 6-4 in the 1st round in Paris (draw).
Presently, during this year Siniakova has managed to achieve a 26-17 match record. The Czech clinched 1 title in the Lleida.
