Tough luck for David Ferrer that was not able to compete in Monte Carlo because of an injury.

The Spaniard was meant to play Alexander Zverev in his opener, but eventually he couldn’t make it. David is having a lousy year for his standards to frequently lose in the early stages of many tournaments. This was another blow for David.

It was Ferrer to announce his retirement on twitter. He was replaced by lucky loser Granollers.
