Before making their grand entrance at the Opening Ceremony on the Seine River in Paris, Team USA arrived in style.

Team USA will finish a boat ride down the well-known river that flows through the City of Lights as part of one of the most elaborate ceremonies in the history of the games.

The American Olympic participants are scheduled to arrive at the Trocadero, where a temporary stadium has been constructed, dressed in their colourful and specially created Ralph Lauren uniforms.

LeBron James and Coco Gauff, the two flag bearers, are among the athletes getting ready. They have exchanged their blue blazers for white coats that represent their responsibilities.

Gauff and James were chosen based on a vote by other American athletes. The 39-year-old Lakers icon became the first male athlete and the third basketball player overall to fly the American flag before an Olympic competition.

James expressed his thoughts about it and said: “I think what’s different is always a new experience. A new group of guys – some guys have never been Olympians before so you want them to see the whole moment of being here in Paris. It’s a great opportunity for myself to continue to inspire the next generation and I’m super excited to be here.”

Gauff said: “I never thought in a million years, I would have the honour of carrying the American flag for Team USA in the opening ceremony. I could not be more proud to lead my teammates with LeBron as we showcase our dedication and passion on the biggest stage there is.”
