Dominika Cibulkova is in the semi in Katowice after overcoming a combative Francesca Schiavone.
The Slovakian had to recover a 1-break down in both sets. The Italian failed to serve out the 1st set after being broken in the 10th game. After winning the first set (7-5), Dominika was broken in the first game of the second set, but eventually she found her way to win 6 consecutive games. The match ended after 75 minutes (7-5 6-1).
Cibulkova. I wasn’t as aggressive as I could
Dominika wasn’t happy with the start of the match “I wasn’t as aggressive as I could be at the beginning, and I think this suited her,” Cibulkova commented. “My coach just told me to play my game and be much more aggressive, to go for my shots and I think this settled me down. It was a close first set and once I got this it changed the match.”
