Serbia’s Novak Djokovic is determined to be the final member of the “Big Four” in tennis when twice-Olympic champion Andy Murray retires from the game following the Paris Games.
Murray, a 37-year-old British player who won gold in the singles tournament in 2012 and 2016, will only compete in the doubles before retiring. In the second round, Djokovic can face record 14-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal.
Given that Roger Federer will be retiring in 2022 and Rafael Nadal is also approaching the end of an illustrious career, it will be up to Djokovic to extend the ‘Big Four’ period.
Djokovic said also that Janni Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the best players in th world right now.
“I’ve been present for the shift of many generations in the last 15 years. The end is nearer than the beginning, but I still enjoy competition and I’ll keep going until I don’t enjoy it anymore.”
