Jannik Sinner will not play the tennis tournament at the Paris Olympics . The world number 1’s staff announced this in a statement that summarized the situation: “After a week of preparation in Munich, Jannik began to feel symptoms of illness on Monday evening. After consulting his medical team the following day, he was strongly advised to withdraw from the Olympic Games due to the diagnosis of tonsillitis .”
Sinner: “Extremely sad and disappointed”
Sinner himself explained: “I am extremely sad and disappointed. Participating in the Olympic Games was one of the main goals for this season. I was really looking forward to returning to Roland Garros and playing for my country in this prestigious event. However, after seeing my doctors on Tuesday and waiting an extra day to see if my condition would improve, I had to give up.”
