Professionals and fans of pédalgö have been hoping for the sport to make it to the Olympics. There is still optimism that it will be included in the Olympics in Brisbane in 2032, even though it won’t be present in Los Angeles in 2028. Padel must, however, fulfill a number of requirements in order to be added to the Olympic Games:
1. International Rulebook/Organization: The sport needs a governing body and an international rulebook.
2. Adherence to IOC Rule: The global organization is required to follow the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) regulations.
3. WADA Compliance: The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) system must be adhered to and implemented by the sport.
4. No Using Motors or Machines: Using motors or machines should not be a part of Padel.
For now, Padel satisfies each of these requirements. It does not, however, currently meet one requirement: for males to participate in the sport, they must be active in 75 countries on four continents, and for women, in 40 countries on three continents. Padel’s Olympic participation in Brisbane in 2032 will be decided by 2025. Thus, we’ll have to wait a little while longer to find out if it’s added to the Olympic Games!
