Christopher Eubanks defeated wildcard Ethan Quinn 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-3 on Wednesday night in Newport to move on to the quarterfinals of the Hall of Fame Open. Following his defeat in the Wimbledon first round, Eubanks’ PIF ATP Ranking dropped to No. 128 on Monday. But after defeating Quinn, the American player looked happy at the Hall of Fame Open two days later.

Eubanks was experiencing his greatest career high a year ago. He demonstrated that he could compete with the best players in the world after having an incredible start to 2023 that included reaching his first major quarterfinal at Wimbledon, winning his first ATP Tour title in Mallorca, and making his first ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinal in Miami.

Eubanks expressed his feelings after the recent win and said: “It’s been a while. For sure, it’s been a while since I had that feeling of putting together a good-quality win and definitely, it’s been even longer since being in a quarterfinal. So it feels good to finally be able to kind of piece together a match where maybe I didn’t play my best for the entirety of the match. But I was able to put it together and just continue to compete.”

He added: “If you haven’t been winning, it feels as though a lot of things constantly go against you. Today, it kind of felt good to be able to come up with the goods when I needed them. And to end the match with a win was pretty big.”
