Hubert Hurkacz, the world No. 7, recently underwent knee surgery but remains optimistic about competing in the upcoming Paris Olympics. Hurkacz sustained the knee injury during a match against Arthur Fils, where he retired after diving for a ball during a tie-break.

Despite initial concerns, Hurkacz provided a positive update on social media. “I had a knee procedure this Monday, but I’m feeling better already, and my team and I are dedicating extensive time each day to the rehab process,” Hurkacz wrote. “It’s a dream for every athlete to represent their country at the Olympics, and I want to make sure I am fully fit and ready before making the final decision to step on court. The aim is not only to participate but to win a medal for my country.”

Poland has high hopes for its tennis team this year, with Hurkacz and WTA World No. 1 Iga Swiatek leading the charge. Hurkacz is set to compete in singles, men’s doubles with Jan Zielinski, and mixed doubles with Swiatek.
