Holger Rune, a rising star in the tennis world, has been in the spotlight not only for his performances on the court but also for his coaching arrangements. Recently, a tweet from former coach Boris Becker sparked curiosity and conversation. Becker tweeted,

“Quick question: I see @pmouratoglou in London but NOT with @holgerrune2003 at @Wimbledon …they are still working together?!” This public query drew a direct response from Rune, who found the indirect approach surprising. “Super strange you don’t ask me this question directly as we text together about other stuff. The answer to your question is yes we work together. Sharing the tournaments between us as planned,” Rune clarified on X.

The question of Rune’s coaching dynamics came to the fore after his decision to part ways with Becker and another coach, Luthi. Rune explained that the split was primarily due to scheduling conflicts.

“As you know, I have tried different coaching variations during the last 12 months. After working with the same coach for 15 years, my entire tennis life, it is not easy to find the perfect match on the first try. I have learned a lot and found out what is important for me to feel good and at the same time develop as I want,” Rune stated.

He emphasized the importance of having a team that shares his vision and goals, providing him with the stability and support needed in the ever-changing world of professional tennis.

“I have big ambitions and big goals, and I need people around me who have the same vision. And people I can trust to achieve my goals. I need people who know me – who can be there all the time. It gives me security and joy in a world with changing environments and conditions every week.”

Currently, Rune is working full-time with coach Carlsen, a former Danish tennis player and world No. 41, aiming to build a consistent and successful partnership.
