Rafael Nadal surprises everyone after retiring in his Miami opener against Dzmhur. The King of Clay started the match in the best possible way after winning the opening set 6-2. Rafa experienced dizziness already at the end of the opener and things got worse in the second set (he lost 6-4). Eventually the Spaniard decided it was too much for him to compete in the decider when he was 0-3 down.
Rafa was booed by the crowd when he decided to retire. last time that Rafa retired durung a match was in 1010 at the Australian Open against Murray.

Rafa explained what happened “Everything was fine until the end of the first set,” Rafa said. “Then I started to feel dizzy, not very good. It was getting worse and worse. Finally, in the second set, I realised that I could not keep playing.
“I wanted to finish the match, but I seriously could not. It was tough, because I felt I was playing well. I had good practices after a great week in Indian Wells. I stopped because I was concerned for my health, and I could not finish the match the way I was feeling.”
