When the son of a legendary athlete was seen earlier this week at Wimbledon watching Raducanu in action, rumours started to circulate. Romeo Beckham, the second-eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, was spotted in the stands alongside a few friends and former Germany midfielder Sami Khedira as Raducanu overcame Mertens in straight sets in the second round.
The 21-year-old football player from Brentford is an enthusiastic follower of Raducanu. He also enjoys tennis and trained with Andy Murray during a five-year break from sports.
Online rumours of their relationship have been sparked by Beckham Jr.’s attendance at her matches. Romeo posted an Instagram photo of Raducanu in action with two emojis of hearts for love. When asked if he had attended, the tennis player quickly shifted the topic.
Raducanu said about it: “I mean, I think he’s, yeah, he’s really cool. His dad is, you know, someone that I think every athlete looks up to, especially every British athlete. You know what he’s going through with the media, with his career, and with the pressure moments. Having David Beckham in my first round at the front, he was there from the start. At first, even when the crowd was pretty empty, I had the utmost respect for him and I think he’s just amazing for British sport in general.”
