Rafael Nadal has expressed his support for fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who is set to face Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final. Djokovic is aiming to secure his eighth Wimbledon singles title, which would tie him with Roger Federer as the most successful man in the tournament’s history.
Nadal, however, is backing Alcaraz, who defeated Djokovic in a thrilling five-set final at last year’s Championships and recently won the French Open, positioning himself for a rare Channel Slam. Alcaraz is seeking his fourth major title and has the backing of Nadal, who posted on Instagram: “Vamosssss [Carlos Alcaraz] & [Spain national football team].”
The duo will also represent Spain at the upcoming Olympic tennis tournament in Paris. Alcaraz’s journey to the final has been marked by an impressive performance, although he faced some boos after his semi-final win against Daniil Medvedev for his comment that it would be a “good day” for Spanish people if both he and Spain’s football team, set to compete in the Euro 2024 final against England, emerge victorious.
