Novak Djokovic is once again in a position to win a Slam title, defying all odds and putting an end to those who questioned his ability to return. Former American tennis player Andy Roddick is among the sceptics who have become believers.

The former tennis star and cohost Jon Wertheim discussed a variety of subjects on the most recent podcast, which included Djokovic’s quick comeback and his run to the quarterfinals. When he said Djokovic would miss the entire Wimbledon season, in addition to the tournament, he appeared to revert to his earlier remarks.

He argued that everyone has the right to hold their own opinions in defence of their own. Roddick expressed his thoughts about it and said: “Let that settle in. You can have your opinions, you can not like certain things, you can question certain things, and you might like someone else more. I didn’t have him in this tennis tournament. I didn’t think he was going to be able to recover from knee surgery at 37 years old in time to play Wimbledon, much less not have to be a drag on the rest of the year.”

Roddick added: “I don’t think you can create an entire thing on Centre Court and then get mad when someone asks you about the entire thing that you created. I was wrong on that one and maybe he was wrong on that one. If I was losing to someone I should have been losing to and I had to get into a fight with an umpire, I would create some sort of thing. As long as it’s within the rules, I would do it. I didn’t thrive under friction the way that Novak does, and I often wasn’t proud of it after I did it.”
