Alcaraz Explains Why He Gets More Relaxed When He Misses Weird Shots

Carlos Alcaraz often opts for more challenging shots during matches, revealing that it helps him relax and enjoy the game, even if it sometimes leads to mistakes. When asked about his tendency to choose playful shots over simpler ones, Alcaraz explained, “Sometimes I have to go for the effective one rather than the other options. Sometimes I do it because I feel so nervous and it’s the kind of thing that relaxes me.”

Alcaraz further elaborated on his approach, noting how these moments of levity can boost his confidence and ease tension. “Because I’ve got a smile on my face doing disaster sometimes. In that moment I was feeling really calm. I was feeling that I can do these kinds of shots. I have the confidence that when I hit these shots, I think they’re going to go in,” he shared. His playful strategy often brings a sense of fun to the court, transforming high-pressure situations into opportunities to enjoy the sport.

Despite the occasional misstep, Alcaraz believes this approach is beneficial. “Sometimes, as I said, it’s a disaster. But it helps me a lot to relax, smile, & have fun on the court. But sometimes it’s difficult to do the simple shots,” he admitted. This playful approach highlights Alcaraz’s unique method of handling pressure and staying calm on the court, showcasing his ability to blend competitive spirit with joy for the game.
