Djokovic explains how he achieved so much success

Djokovic attributes his success to smart work, overcoming adversity, and meticulous off-court efforts like sleep, nutrition, and thought management.

Djokovic Explains How He Achieved So Much Success

Following his recent victory over Lorenzo Musetti at Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic provided an in-depth look into the factors behind his remarkable success. During the on-court interview, Djokovic emphasized that there is no single “secret potion or formula” for success.

“Everyone wants to have that secret potion or formula of success,” Djokovic said with a smile. “What’s that one thing that defines a champion, that allows you to be the best at what you do and also stay there as long as you possibly can. There’s no such thing as a secret.”

Djokovic attributed much of his success to smart work rather than sheer hard work. He highlighted the importance of overcoming adversity and how it shapes character and strengthens willpower. “Things that don’t come easy your way… It’s something that really defines your character and strengthens your will.”

Djokovic also discussed the demands of tennis as an individual sport. “You have no one to replace you. You have no one to rely on. Yes, I have team members, but I have to find solutions by myself on court. If you have a bad day that’s it. You’re out of the tournament.”

He elaborated on the extensive effort required off the court, including sleep quality, nutrition, thought management, and surrounding environment. “Everything has an effect on how you perform on court. It’s quite easy as well,” he concluded with a smile, reflecting his positive and pragmatic approach to the sport.
