Lorenzo Musetti said that Wednesday’s Wimbledon Grand Slam semifinal run was the best day of his life after the birth of his son.
Musetti advanced to the semifinals, where he will take on seven-time champion Novak Djokovic after defeating 13th-ranked American Taylor Fritz 3-6, 7-6 (7/5), 6-2, 3-6, and 6-1.
Musetti expressed his thoughts after the win and said: “It’s a magic day. I have to say that after the birth of my son, I will put this in the second position today. For my career, this is the best day of my life.”
Musetti’s coach, Simone Tartarini, reveals why Lorenzo has improved since the birth of his baby. He talked about it and said: “After the birth of his son Lorenzo, he returned to focus on the game and little by little, he got back on track. The first results have arrived and the matches won have given us confidence. This semi-final is a consequence of the path that has been taken. It will continue to evolve for at least another couple of years.”
He added: “Lorenzo is a talented player. In the past, he didn’t accept that he could win games even by playing badly. And this is the wrong mentality for a high-level player. Let’s say he started to ‘get his hands dirty.”
