Jannik Sinner Shines With Monstrous Performance To Advance To Wimbledon 4th Round

Jannik Sinner showcased an exceptional performance on Centre Court, defeating Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets (6-1, 6-4, 6-2) to advance to the 4th round of the Wimbledon Championships. This dominant display came after a grueling four-hour match against fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini in the 2nd round, yet Sinner exhibited no signs of fatigue, highlighting his significant athletic improvements over the past year.

From the outset, Sinner controlled the exchanges, maintaining a stronghold on his service games throughout the match. In the second set, which proved to be the most competitive, Sinner elevated his game at crucial moments to distance himself from Kecmanovic.

In his post-match interview, Sinner expressed his satisfaction with his performance and discussed his next potential opponents. He also shared his thoughts on the match between Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe.

“I’m happy. It was a really long day, so I’m really happy that I started the match earlier than last time and that I finished in three sets. I felt much better on the court, I’m really happy with my performance,” Sinner remarked.

Regarding his time management while waiting to play, Sinner noted: “We wait a long time, but it’s an honor to play on Centre Court. We can wait calmly. Carlos Alcaraz’s match was long, then the women’s match ended in two sets. I was pumped and I couldn’t wait to enter the court. Alcaraz-Tiafoe? I watched a bit of the match. It was beautiful and high-level. Carlos raised the level in the tie-break of the fourth and then played better in the fifth, and that’s where it ended.”

Looking ahead to his next match against either Ben Shelton or Denis Shapovalov, Sinner explained his approach: “I and my team will watch the match. It’s something I like to do. It will be a little different because we’re talking about two left-handed players. My team will tell me what the keys to the match will be, but I will definitely watch it a little. We always keep working, because it’s not just about this tournament but also the future ones.

“Obviously we try a lot of things in practice, then when a match becomes easier I do it during the match. If you don’t feel comfortable doing something in practice, you’ll never be able to do it in a match. I also go to the gym a lot to get stronger physically.”
