Emma Raducanu defeated Elise Mertens 6-1, 6-2, in the second round of Wimbledon to go to the third round. Raducanu's comeback reached a noteworthy milestone at that point because, aside from her 2021 US Open victory, she had never progressed past the third round of a Grand Slam event.

Emma Raducanu advanced to the third round of Wimbledon after defeating Elise Mertens 6-1, 6-2 in the second round.  And with that, Raducanu’s comeback hits a significant milestone: since winning the US Open in 2021, she has never advanced past the third round of a Grand Slam competition.

Raducanu is a very talented and charming tennis player, and she strongly identifies with her Chinese background. In addition to being praised for her heritage, she is a recognized Mandarin speaker in China.

It has been said that her mother’s Chinese ancestry gave her traits like self-control and social graces, which have helped her succeed in the very competitive world of professional tennis.
