Emma Raducanu, the 21-year-old British tennis sensation, continues to shine on home soil at Wimbledon. In a dominant display, she defeated Elise Mertens in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, securing her place in the third round at the All England Club. Raducanu’s journey at Wimbledon this year is particularly remarkable given her absence from last year’s tournament due to wrist and ankle surgeries. Her powerful return has been nothing short of impressive, sprinting to victory in just one hour and 17 minutes against Mertens.

Emma commented:

“It makes me feel unbelievable. I feel so welcome here and honestly Court One is my favourite court.

“I think I played some really good tennis today. I’m over the moon to be playing here and to extend my stay by one more day. With the roof closed, it was super loud so I’m really appreciative and grateful to everyone for making a lot of noise.”
